About Rovixel
Rovixel is an independent, editorially curated portal for free browser games. We publish fewer games than the big aggregators, and we write about every one of them.
What we do
Our catalog is a hand-picked collection of HTML5 games, and every entry gets the same treatment. Every game runs in the browser — there is nothing to download, no account to create, and no launcher to install. The same page works on a desktop, a tablet, and a phone, and we label games that are especially suited to touch screens.
How games get into the catalog
We do not publish a game just because a feed lists it. Before a game page goes live we check that:
- the game loads quickly and runs at a stable frame rate on a mid-range phone;
- keyboard and touch controls both work, or we warn you clearly when they do not;
- the embed does not hijack the page, open pop-ups, or cover the screen with interstitials;
- the page gets its own write-up: what the game is, how to play, tips, and common questions.
Games that fail these checks stay unpublished, and games that break later are removed from the index. If a game you were playing has disappeared, it was most likely retired for one of these reasons.
Keeping the catalog current
Games break: publishers retire titles, embeds stop loading, and pages go stale. We re-check the catalog regularly, remove games that no longer play properly, redirect their URLs to a relevant category, and update the pages that stay. If you spot something broken before we do, the contact page is the fastest way to tell us.
Advertising and independence
Rovixel is free to play and funded by advertising. Ads are placed away from the play area so they never interfere with a game, and we do not sell editorial placements. Games cannot pay to be featured, ranked, or described more favorably.
