Printing tips & how to play

How to print these sudoku puzzles

Every grid below is a standard nine-by-nine sudoku with one solution. To print, press the print button or use your browser's print command, then choose the pages you need. The page is built so that a single puzzle never splits across two sheets, and the site navigation and adverts are left off the printed copy. Check "Include answer keys" to add solutions on separate pages.

  • Fresh puzzles any time. Pick a difficulty and a count, then press "Generate a new set" to build new grids in your browser — there is no limit and nothing to download.
  • Export a PDF. Press "Download PDF" to download the current set as a file: the puzzles first, with an optional answer key.
  • Choose your paper. Choose 1, 2 or 4 puzzles per page, then select your paper size. Match that paper size in your printer dialog and use portrait orientation.
  • Black and white is fine. The grids are drawn in black and grey, so no colour ink is used.
  • Large print. Switch to "1 per page" to give every puzzle its own sheet and the biggest cells — helpful for younger players or anyone who prefers a larger grid.
  • Optional answers. Check "Include answer keys" to print or export the solutions after the puzzles. You can also view them at the bottom of this page.

What is on this page

The easy grids are for a warm-up or for a first sudoku; the medium grids add a little scanning; the hard grids are sparse and reward the pairs-and-pointing techniques covered in our how to play sudoku guide. Are these sudoku puzzles free to print?

Yes. Every puzzle on this page is free to print and to copy for personal, classroom or care-home use. There is no download, no sign-up and no limit on how many times you print.

Can I get new puzzles instead of the same twelve?

Yes. Use the "Generate a new set" control to build a fresh set of puzzles in your browser, then press "Copy link to this set" to share exactly the same grids. Every puzzle is created on the spot and checked to have exactly one solution, so you never run out.

Do the puzzles come with answers?

Yes. The answer key for every grid is on this page, just below the puzzles. Check "Include answer keys" to include solutions on separate pages when printing or exporting a PDF.

Can I download the puzzles as a PDF?
