Obby Rainbow Parkour Two Player is a vertical race: two climbers start at the bottom of a colourful tower and try to reach the top first. It runs in split screen, so both players always know exactly how far ahead — or behind — the other one is.

How to play

Player 1 climbs with W, A, S and D, jumps with Space, sprints with Shift and shoves with Q. Player 2 uses the arrow keys for movement, L to jump, Shift to sprint and the comma key to shove. The game has seven stages to climb, and it offers two modes: RACE, where the first climber to the summit wins, and TIME TRIAL, where both players climb and the better time decides the round. Falling sends you back to the last checkpoint with a respawn, so a mistake costs seconds rather than the whole climb.

The two extra keys are what make the game more than a platformer. Sprint changes your jump distance, which means the fastest route and the safest route are different routes — and shove turns a narrow ledge into a trap for whoever is in front.

How to win races

Take the safe line in RACE mode: a fall costs more time than a slower route ever will, and the other player has to climb the same tower. Use sprint on open ground and release it before a jump, because a sprinting climber overshoots short platforms and drops. Save the shove for tight sections where a small push is enough to send the other player back down a stage. And learn the first two stages properly — most races are decided before either player reaches the third.

Who it is for

It suits two players who want a competition with a bit of climbing in it, and who do not mind sharing a screen. It is also one of the few two-player games here with a genuine co-op-to-competitive spectrum: TIME TRIAL is relaxed, RACE is not.

How to get a high score

  1. Sprint on the straights, release it before a jump — a sprinting climber overshoots short platforms.
  2. Shove is for corners. Use it when the other player is ahead on a narrow ledge, not in open space.
  3. In RACE mode, take the safer line. Falling costs more time than a slower route.
  4. Learn the first two stages by heart. The early climb is where most races are won.

Questions

How do the two players control their climbers?

Player 1 uses WASD to move, Space to jump, Shift to sprint and Q to shove. Player 2 uses the arrow keys with L to jump, Shift to sprint and the comma key to shove. Each player gets their own half of the keyboard.

What game modes are there?

The game offers RACE, where the first climber to the summit wins, and TIME TRIAL, where both players climb and the better time takes the round. There are seven stages to climb.

What does the shove key do?

It pushes the other climber. On narrow ledges that can be enough to send them back down a stage, which makes it a tool for tight sections rather than a move to spam.

Does it work on a phone?

Touch controls are included and the game asks you to rotate to landscape. On a phone it becomes a two-thumb game with one player on each side of the screen.
