Ashen Watch
Action Games · Updated
Ashen Watch is a siege you are supposed to lose eventually. Princess Elira is sheltering in the kingdom’s last keep, the enemy does not stop coming, and you are the guardian standing between the two. The question the game asks is not whether you can win, but how many waves you can hold.
How to play
You move with WASD, the arrow keys, or by holding the mouse button on the battlefield to walk in that direction; on a touch screen you drag. The guardian attacks nearby enemies by itself, which leaves your attention free for the decisions that matter: where to stand, what to defend, and when to spend your abilities.
Those abilities are the heart of the run. Storm Strike hits on Space, the flaming blade is bound to Q once you have unlocked it, and the dodge roll lives on Shift — each one is a reset button for the moment a wave is about to overwhelm the keep.
Wave by wave you face eight enemy types and their bosses, and after every wave you choose a roguelike perk: arrow volleys, chain lightning, a flaming blade, a dodge roll. Those choices stack into a build, and the build decides which part of the siege you survive. The story runs across twenty waves, with a boss and a new cinematic chapter every five.
Holding the line
- Build for the wave in front of you. A perk that solves your current weakness is worth more than one that improves your strength.
- Keep the strike in reserve. It is the only thing that reliably saves a losing wave.
- Spend coins between runs. Permanent upgrades are the real progression; the run is how you pay for them.
- Watch the bosses. Every fifth wave is a different problem, and it arrives with a story beat attached.
Who it is for
This suits action players who like tower-defence pressure with roguelike decision-making: twenty short waves, a clear escalation, and progression that survives a defeat. It works with mouse or touch, and a full run is a sensible sitting rather than an evening.
How to get a high score
- Pick perks that cover your worst wave, not the one you just survived. The next chapter is always harder.
- Storm Strike is an escape as much as an attack — save it for the moment you are surrounded.
- Coins carry over. If a run dies at wave twelve, buy something permanent before the next attempt.
- Every fifth wave brings a boss. Arrive with a full perk set and the strike ready, not half-way through a build.
Questions
How does the run structure work?
Twenty waves, with a boss and a new cinematic story chapter every five. After each wave you choose one roguelike perk from the options offered.
What perks can I pick?
The perk pool includes arrow volleys, chain lightning, a flaming blade and a dodge roll — each one changes how you fight the next wave rather than just adding damage.
Do upgrades carry between runs?
Yes. Coins earned in battle buy permanent upgrades and armour skins, so a failed run still moves the account forward.
