Nightmare 2D Shooters is an arcade survival game with the volume turned up. A heroic constructor, a fire-breathing minigun, and an endless swarm of grotesque multi-eyed creatures closing in on the red monster truck you are defending.
How to play
Movement is A and D or the left and right arrow keys, Space jumps, J fires, and I fires upward. That last control is the one players forget: the swarm does not stay on your level, and the sky above you is a lane like any other.
The scenario is deliberately simple. Hold your position near the truck, keep the minigun going, and clear enough of the wave that the ones behind it do not reach the vehicle. If they do, the mission ends — which means your position is a resource. Standing in the right place lets you cover both the ground and the air in front of the truck; standing in the wrong place means turning your back on one of them.
Destructive power-ups drop into the chaos, and grabbing them is usually the difference between a good run and a short one: they clear space in front of you, and space is the only thing a bullet-hell gives you.
Holding the line
- Never stand still. A stationary target in a dense pattern is a dead one.
- Use the up-shot early. Flyers are easy to ignore right up until they are not.
- Protect the truck, not the score. The run ends at the vehicle, not at the first hit you take.
- Collect power-ups immediately. They are temporary, and the window for using one is short.
